Role: Staff

Chloe Miller is GMC’s Communications Manager, setting and executing strategy for GMC’s digital and print communications with members and the general hiking public. She spent the previous six years in digital media production and communications in New York City, and seeking a change from city life and better access to the outdoors, she found GMC.

Chloe was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska with the mountains in her backyard. She previously spent a summer on a trail crew in southern Arizona’s Saguaro National Park with the Student Conservation Association, and led backpacking trips for college students on the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York portions of the Appalachian Trail. Chloe lives in Burlington and in her spare time enjoys all that Vermont has to offer, from swimming holes in the summer to backcountry skiing at Bolton in the winter.

Emily is GMC’s Visitor Services Manager and, with the Visitor Center staff, is ready to answer all your hiking questions! Her interest in natural and cultural resources stems from working with Delaware State Parks as a parks interpreter.

Prior to joining GMC, Emily spent five years with a county parks system in Maryland as an Interpretive Programs Manager with historic sites. Missing the environmental focus and ready for a new adventure, she found her way to the GMC after completing her section hike of the Long Trail in 2022. In her free time, Emily loves hiking, fiber arts, exploring forts, and taking her dog on adventures.

Keegan’s (he/him/his) life-long love for trails began in his youth hiking Mt. Abraham here in his home state of Vermont. After getting hooked on trail work on the Cumberland Trail in Tennessee, his first project on the Long Trail was during his senior year at UVM leading an Orientation TREK trip to construct the privy at Griffith Lake tenting site. After getting his B.S. in Wildlife Biology he spent a few years roaming the west before returning to Vermont to work for the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC) in 2005. There, as Director of Operations, he worked with a broad partner network (including the GMC) to identify, plan, and implement trail construction and maintenance projects for VYCC Crews. In addition to VYCC, he has spent time working as a lead carpenter, a cabinet maker, and a ski-bum.

In his role as Director of Field Programs Keegan works closely with all GMC staff, volunteers, and sections to ensure sustainable management of the Long Trail system including the AT from Maine Junction to the New Hampshire border and the Kingdom Heritage Trails.

Keegan, his partner, and their two children live on an 1840s farmstead in Starksboro, an equidistant commute to Camels Hump and Mt. Abraham trailheads. When not at work on the trail you will find him investigating the wonders of the natural world with his daughters, working on (or in) his 1840 timber frame barn, working with his dogs to hunt birds, or in the garden.

Justin (he/him/his) is GMC’s Project Coordinator, working to plan and execute technical backcountry construction projects on trails and shelters. Originally from the Southern Adirondacks, Justin first moved to this side of the lake in 2012 to work for GMC as a backcountry caretaker. After 6 seasons working for the club as both a caretaker and a construction crew member, he left and spent some time working on a large-scale project on Colorado’s Mt. Elbert and, later, some mountain biking trails in Southern Vermont. Justin came back to GMC in 2023 to manage a new project on a very old trail—a full reconstruction of the Burrows Trail on Camels Hump’s West side.
