Day Hikes by Region

Manchester Area Hikes
The Manchester area in southern Vermont includes wonderful hikes like Stratton, Bromley, and Equinox Mountains, and Stratton and Little Rock Ponds. This section of the Long Trail overlaps with the Appalachian Trail and is situated in the Green Mountain National Forest.
Mansfield Area Hikes
Mount Mansfield is Vermont’s highest peak, at 4,395 feet, and offers something for every hiker. There is a vehicle-accessible Toll Road (operated by Stowe Mountain Resort) that takes you to the alpine ridgeline, as well as a complex network of interesting and challenging side trails. Explore the east or west sides of the mountain, or venture across Smugglers’ Notch to pleasant views at Sterling Pond or Elephant’s Head Cliff.

Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and independent spirit, and feels like a Vermont all its own.
