The Green Mountain Club runs three visitor centers in Vermont. All are staffed by friendly and knowledgeable folks eager to answer your questions about hiking in Vermont, whether you are planning your first hike in Vermont or an entire thru-hike of the Long Trail.
The Rothberg-Birdwhistell Visitor Center sits on scenic Route 100 between Waterbury and Stowe, Vermont, conveniently located amid many popular tourist attractions and on the way to the mountains.
Barnes Camp Visitor Center sits at the base of Mount Mansfield in Stowe, directly on the Long Trail, and is staffed seasonally on weekends by volunteers.
And the Mount Mansfield Visitor Center sits at the top of Vermont’s highest mountain, and offers interpretive displays about the alpine vegetation and natural history of this iconic peak, open in summer and fall.
