The Long Trail

This rugged “footpath in the wilderness” is the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the United States, running 272 miles from Massachusetts to Canada along the spine of the Green Mountains. Its 88 blue-blazed side trails access some of Vermont’s most iconic natural spots.

Other GMC Trails

In addition to the Long Trail, the Green Mountain Club manages 88 side trails that access the Long Trail, and the entire Appalachian Trail in Vermont.

Thru Hiking

Long Trail thru-hikers are called End-to-Enders, completing the entire 272-mile trail in one go, usually taking 21-25 days to complete. Hiking in sections of any length is another way to do it.
