Give Back with GMC
GMC was founded by volunteers more than 115 years ago and was 100 percent volunteer run for the first half of its lifetime. Today, a network of nearly 1,000 individuals volunteer to complete annual maintenance duties on the trails and shelters, organize group hikes and outings, pack in materials to backcountry sites, educate visitors, and more.

Volunteers have been the backbone of the Green Mountain Club for more than a century, and there’s a space for you to join these critical ranks.
Volunteering on the trail or off of it is a great way to connect further with your love for Vermont’s mountains and trails and join a community of others who care fiercely about protecting and maintaining the Long Trail.
Without volunteers’ time, energy, and knowledge, the trail would not exist or be managed as it is today. There are dozens of ways to get involved both on and off the trail.
